The Avocado Green Extra Firm Mattress supports up to 550 lbs per person, or 1,100 lbs total — our highest-capacity mattress and the only heavy-duty mattress certified organic to GOTS. Two full coil units, not one: 1,600 individually wrapped coils in Queen and up to 2,112 in King, all 14-gauge double-tempered recycled steel, separated by a coconut fiber pad infused with organic latex. Uniform heavy gauge throughout both units means the perimeter is as firm as the center — no soft edges, no sinkage. Built for heavy sleepers, big and tall sleepers, athletes, and back and stomach sleepers who need spinal alignment under load.

Two full coil units of double-tempered recycled steel, wound in our own facility rather than bought from a supplier, which is why both units run uniform 14-gauge instead of whatever a catalog offers. Every spring sits in its own pocket, in both layers — no helical wire threading the coils together, no interconnected grid anywhere in the mattress. Mattress Setup & Care:

Before You Begin:
This mattress weighs up to 187 lb and requires a specific support structure. Prepare the foundation before delivery. The mattress ships flat via freight rather than compressed, and In-Home Delivery & Setup is required due to its weight and construction.

Foundation Requirements:
For Queen and larger sizes, a rigid center support beam with at least one support leg extending to the floor is required. Slats must be no more than 5 inches apart and at least 2.5 inches wide. These requirements must be met to maintain warranty coverage.

Avocado's Heavy Duty Foundation is rated for a total load of up to 2,000 lb. Third-party frames must meet the same minimum structural requirements.

Weight Capacity:
Supports up to 550 lb per person or 1,100 lb total. Avocado adjustable bases have a total weight capacity of 850 lb. When the combined mattress and user weight approaches this limit, use a support system with sufficient weight capacity, such as the Heavy Duty Foundation or an appropriately rated solid platform frame.

Rotation:
Rotate the mattress 180 degrees from head to foot every few months to promote even wear.

Do Not Flip:
This is a single-sided mattress, with latex comfort layers on top and a cotton canvas base underneath. Do not flip the mattress.

Care:
Spot clean only using a small amount of mild detergent and cold water. Do not soak the mattress or use harsh chemicals.
